Amvets Post 46 helps veterans, their families and the community of Beaver Island, Michigan.
The AMVETS (American Veterans) organization has a primary mission to support Beaver Island Veterans in need, honor those who have passed away, and support the Beaver Island Veterans Memorial Park.
AMVETS is a congressionally chartered veterans service organization that represents the interests of 20 million veterans and is open to all who honorably served in the United States military, including those who served in the Reserve and Guard.
AMVETS provides various services to safeguard the entitlements of American veterans. These services include VA claim filing assistance, employment assistance, advocacy in D.C., and more. They also offer scholarships to eligible veterans and their dependents to enable them to get an education. Additionally, AMVETS works in conjunction with the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary and the Freedoms Foundation to educate youth on America’s history and instill national pride and patriotism.
The Beaver Island Veterans Memorial Park is an extraordinary testament to the valor and dedication of American servicemen and women from Beaver Island and those connected to Beaver Island. The park fosters remembrance and holds services every year on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
